One day faculty development program on 'Commodity Derivative Markets' conducted

A one day faculty development program on Commodity Derivative Markets was held today at the hall of the College of Agriculture (CoA), Central Agricultural University (CAU) Imphal.
The faculty development program was jointly organized by the Institutional Development Plan-National Agricultural Higher Education Project (IDP-NAHEP), CoA, CAU, Imphal, the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) and the National Institute of Securities Markets (NISM) .
A total of 60 participants including faculties, PhD and Post -Graduate students from the College of Post Graduate Studies ,Barapani , Meghalaya , Department of Commerce and Department of Economics, Manipur University, Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyay Institute of Agriculture Sciences ,Utlou, the South Asian Institute of Rural and Agricultural Management, Langjing Achouba and the College of Agriculture ,Iroisemba took part in today's faculty development program.

Director of Extension Education CAU Imphal, Professor Ph Ranjit Sharma , Dean in-charge, CoA, CAU Imphal, Professor Ph Sobita Devi ,Deputy General Manager SEBI , Vikas SS, Dr Venkatachalam Shunmugam of NISM, Associate Coordinator, NAHEP-IDP ,CAU Imphal, Professor E VD Sastry and Director of Instruction & PI ( IDP-NAHEP) ,CAU Imphal , Dr S Basanta Singh graced the occasion as the presidium members.
Dr V Shunmugam spoke on the topics-Derivatives Markets, commodity exchange and career opportunities in commodity markets.
Speaking as the chief guest Professor Ph Ranjit Sharma said that the faculty development program which is being held in the college for the first time will benefit the participants considerably and appealed to the gathering to be attentive and grasp the knowledge and new techniques which will be imparted during the program.
The objective of the program is to upgrade the knowledge of the faculty and students like assessing knowledge and so on to bring in overall improvement in the educational environment, he added. Elaborating on the importance of organising the faculty development program, Dr S Basant Singh said that the program is aimed to educate the students and faculty members who are into the field of agricultural studies about the various agricultural marketing systems in the country and abroad.
He went on to state that such programs will help in enlightening the future students of agriculture enabling them to become successful entrepreneurs.
