Naga CSOs pay rich tribute to May 6, 2010 firing incident at Mao

Different Naga Civil Society Organizations paid rich tribute to (Late) Dikho Loshuo and (Late) Neli Chakho who were 'martyred' on May 6, 2010 at Mao Gate.
It may noted that the public held a silent protest rally at Mao Gate on this day after the Govt of Manipur denied entry to Th Muivah, general secretary of the NSCN (IM) who was on his way to visit his native village, Somdal.
The protest quickly escalated to police firing when the Govt of Manipur sent its commando and IRB personnel to enforce the ban on the entry of Th Muivah.
In the firing incident, 2 young students identified as Dikho Loshuo, a BA 2nd year student of St.
Joseph's College, Jakhama and Neli Chakho, a BA 2nd year student of St Joseph's Evening College, Bangalore both hailing from Mao Kalinamei village were killed in police firing.
In his keynote, Dr.Saheni Loli, president, Mao Council regretted the loss of 2 young promising students while expressing their right.
The Mao Council leader extended condolences to the bereaved families.
S Milan, general secretary, United Naga Council (UNC) stated that on May 6, 2010, it rained bullett in Mao.
The 2 brave heroes came out courageously in order to defend Naga cause and its rights of the people demonstrating "This is our land, nobody should control over our land." While defending their land, the 2 brave hearts gave up their lives, he recalled.
The UNC leader was also present at the site .
Vice president of Naga Hoho stated that the 2 heroes gave up their lives while defending their inherent rights in a just cause of the Nagas.
People on this day remember them fondly as "Martyr's Day" .
In her solidarity message, Sani Sarah, vice president, Naga Mothers' Association (NMA) stated that the sacrifice of the two made reminds all of the Mao Gate incident to this day.
The sacrifice gives hope to the students to put more labour to become better one in their endeavours.
Asha Wungnam, president, Naga Women's Union (NWU) said nobody has the right to take away history and what belongs to the people.
She urged all to stand together and fight with unity without which, people cannot move forward.
Pung Mark, president, Senapati District Students Association (SDSA) said the day is a brutal reminder of social injustice and denial of people's rights.
The student leader urged all to stand together and forge ahead in one unified voice.
