State logs fresh Covid case after three months

Imphal, April 01 2023:
After almost three months, the state has reported a fresh case of Covid-19 on Saturday out of 17 samples tested in the last 24 hours taking the number of active case to one.
The last time the state reported fresh Covid-19 case was on January 3 and the state achieved Covid-free status from January 10 onwards after the lone case was discharged on the same day.
Since then, no fresh Covid-19 case has been detected in the state till Saturday.
According to a press release of the government's Common Control Room, the patient is a first year PG student of JNIMS, who had received two doses of Covid-19 vaccine.
Necessary containment measures have been taken up, the release added.
Meanwhile, source said that the patient is a resident of Hyderabad, who is undergoing PG course in radio diagnosis.
He is lodged in the isolation ward of the hospital.
His sample was tested after experiencing headache and fever while his current symptom has reduced to cough only, the source added.
Sources also informed that a second case has been detected in the same hospital, though it is yet to be officially confirmed.
In the last 24 hours, five doses of Covid vaccine were administered, which took the cumulative number of vaccinated persons to 16,49,470 out of which 13,39,219 have received second doses and 2,80,416 had precautionary doses.
