Imphal, April 01 2023:
Questioning the purpose of the ambitious School Fagathansi Mission, the Socialist Students' Union of Manipur (SSUM) has asked whether teachers can still take their salary without attending schools.
The Union also claimed that Question number 15 of HSCL's Maths paper conducted yesterday was wrong, asking the BOSEM to look into the matter.
In a statement, SSUM said that it is the responsibility of the authorities to find out the teachers who have been taking their monthly salary without working.
"To attend schools or not is up to the teacher, but the duty of the authority is to find such teachers and take action against them," SSUM said.
The Union claimed that a particular teacher transferred to Praja Higher Secondary School, Lamsang under School Fagathansi Mission was found taking salaries for months without attending the school.
SSUM appealed to the Principal of the school to clarify.
"There is no reason why such a teacher should be paid," SSUM said and asked how the School Fatgathansi Mission would succeed if the authority couldn't even identify such errant teachers.
Claiming that they have evidence of the particular teacher getting paid, the Union asked who paid the teacher.
All the teachers who are getting paid without any work and those who knowingly pay them and others involved in the wrongful conduct must be identified and penalised, SSUM demanded.
Saying that this culture of getting half pay (sharing of salary amount to cover for their absence) by colluding with insincere officials must be checked, SSUM added that they will launch a protest if the Government takes its demand lightly.
On the other hand, the Union also questioned the Principal and Admission Committee on admission procedure at Little Flower School SSUM asked the school authority to clarify how the admission process was/is conducted and added, "We know the contribution of Mission Schools and as such the admission process must be transparent" .
