After remaining Covid free for months, the State reported a fresh case while testing 17 samples in the last 24 hours.
The fresh case was detected in a fully vaccinated PG student of JNIMS.
As per the latest bulletin of the Covid Common Control Room, the last case of the contagion was reported on January 3, 2023 .
At least 5 doses of Covid vaccine were administered yesterday.
With this figure, the number of total Covid cases in Manipur has increased to 139925 .
There is no change in the figure of deaths (2149) .
Notably, the first Covid case of Manipur was detected on March 24, 2020 .
On the other hand, the State Health Society Manipur has listed a series of dos and don'ts to prevent Covid infections given the surge of the contagion in different parts of the country and detection of a fresh case in Manipur.
Mission Director of State Health Society Dr Somorjit Ningombam advised the people to avoid overcrowded and poorly ventilated settings, wear face masks within healthcare facilities and while in crowded and closed settings, use handkerchief/tissue to cover nose and mouse while sneezing or coughing, maintain hand hygiene, promote testing and maintain a distance of 6 feet from respiratory disease.
The don'ts, on the other hand, include spitting in public places, touching eye, nose or mouth unwashed hands, taking antibiotics or other medicine without consulting a doctor, hugging and kissing while greeting, excessive physical exercise and touching contaminated surfaces.
