Sit-in protest staged

Denouncing the thrashing of innocent civilians including a women by personnel of Central Reserve Police Force on Friday, Sangaiprou Apunba Nupi Lup yesterday staged a sit-in protest at Sangaiprou
Mamang Leikai.
Speaking to media persons, Sanasam Ongbi Radheshyam Devi, president Sangaiprou Apunba Nupi Lup, strongly condemned the physical assault of two residents of Sangaiprou Mamang Leikai by personnel of CRPF led by an Assistant Commandant on the alleged charge of theft and vandalizing his house in the outburst of recent communal violence.
"During the recent communal violence, members of Sangaiprou Apunba Lup and Sangaiprou Nisha Band came forward to save the houses in the area including that of a CRPF personnel when an angry mob tried to burnt down the houses", she added.
She also accused the CRPF personnel of inciting communal tension especially during this crucial juncture when the State is reeling from the after-math of communal violence.
Demanding strict actions against personnel of CRPF involved in the tragic incident, she said, "It is very unfortunate that security personnel who are there to.
protect the people would abuse their authority and commit such acts of atrocities against innocent civilian" .
