There still is tension in the border between Churachandpur and Bishnupur district and curfew has not been relaxed in Churachandpur and Pherzawl district, said Security Advisor Kuldiep Singh today.
Speaking to media persons at the CM's Secretariat, the Security Advisor to the State Government said there have been reports of some violent incidents in the last 48 hours.
He said due to improved law and order, curfew has been relaxed for 7 hours a day in 5 valley districts.
Kuldiep Singh said curfew has been relaxed for 10 hours a day in Jiribam district while it has been relaxed for 7 hours in Tengnoupal, Chandel and Kangpokpi district.
There is no curfew imposed in Tamenglong, Ukhrul, Kamjong and Noney district.
Briefing the media on the law and order situation in sensitive areas, the Security Advisor said two Army personnel were hurt in an exchange of fire with unknown miscreants at Leimapat area yesterday.
The unknown armed persons opened fire at the personnel of Assam Rifles and Army deployed in the area for security at around 11.30 am yesterday and a gunfight ensued in which the Army personnel were hurt.
On the intervening night of May 13 and 14, a report was received about some unknown miscreants burning down some houses and detaining two persons at Torbung Sabal area in Bishnupur district.
Two companies of Border Security Forces (BSF) were sent in the area but the miscreants fled.
Further 3 additional companies have been deployed in the area to control unwanted incidents, said Kuldiep Singh.
At Kholep village, under Sapermeina police station in Kangpokpi district, Kuldiep said miscreants detained 5 trucks and burnt two of them.
The three remaining trucks along with their drivers have reached Imphal.
Further,, a decomposed body was found and recovered from Moirang Kumam Leikai at around 2.20 pm yesterday, he said.
So far, 73 bodies have been recovered and it has been confirmed that 41 of them died in the violent incidents.
Kuldiep said a total of 243 were injured in the violent incidents and a total of 46,145 people have been evacuated to relief camps and their respective places/homes.
A total of 178 relief camps have been opened and at present, there are 26,358 people taking shelter at the camps.
Their needs are being studied and they are being helped, said Kuldiep.
While checking SoO militants at their camps, they have been advised to stay at the designated camps.
The number of personnel [militants] at the camps have increased and their weapons are being checked and inspected constantly, said the Security Advisor.
At present, there are 62 companies of CRPF and 126 column of Army deployed in Manipur.
They are mostly deployed on the foothill areas and they are now able to dominate places.
While there are areas where the forces could not cover, they have been deployed permanently in sensitive areas and are conducting foot patrolling, he said.
Kuldiep Singh, while stating that the Government and its agencies alone cannot bring peace alone, urged people not to believe in rumours and false propaganda.
