Manipur Keithel Nupi Marup warns against artificial price hike, PANDM continues drive

The Manipur Keithel Nupi Marup has taken strong exception to the selfish and inhuman practice of price hike by some businessmen while the general mass is reeling under the restive communal situation.
In a release, Manipur Keithel Nupi Marup alleged that many businessmen are wilfully looting the public in the broad daylight amidst calls for judicial inquiry into the recent clash from all quarters of the society and while many are taking refuge in relief camps after being displaced from their homes.
Manipur Keithel Nupi Marup advised the businessmen to refrain from vending essential commodities at hiked rates and display price list at the shops.
Appealing to the authorities concerned to initiate necessary measures to control the prices of essential' commodities, Manipur Keithel Nupi Marup stated that preparations have been made to fight artificial price hike by businessmen in case the authorities failed to take action soon.
Meanwhile, in continuation of the drive carried out by Peoples' Action For National Democratic Movement (PANDM) against artificial price hike, members of PANDM yesterday inspected various shops in Thangal Bazar and Paona Bazar.
In a release, PANDM claimed that a shop in Majorkhol was found selling Engine Mustard Oil (5 Ltr) at higher rates during the drive.
The shop was taking advantage of the prevailing situation to sell a "Cartoon" box of Engine Mustard Oil (5 Ltr) at Rs 3280 when earlier it was sold at Rs 3100, it claimed.
PANDM also mentioned that legal action will be taken up against the shop owners and a complaint petition will be filed at the Consumer Dispute Redressal Commission.
