Imphal, May 14 2023:
Lamlai Block Congress Committee (Lamlai BCC) has raised doubts about the existence of a gang of thieves taking the public's share of rice alloted by the Government in Lamlai Assembly Constituency.
Speaking to media persons during a press conference held at Lamlai today, Kshetrimayum Imo, general secretary, Lamlai BCC, claimed that Lamlai villagers have not received their due share of rice for the last five months beginning from January.
Lamlai BCC volunteers were informed about this issue by local villagers when they visited several regions affected by the recent violence.
As Lamlai AC is largely populated by farmers, the civil unrest and its aftermath has left the villagers without a means to earn their livelihood, he maintained.
On top of this, being deprived of their share of rice for months has added to their woes, Ksh Imo added.
He further shared that upon asking relevant Government officials about this issue, they responded saying that the alloted share of rice for five months had already been lifted.
Thus, he raised questions about the existence of a gang of thieves robbing people of their share of rice alloted by the Government.
Urging the authorities concerned to address the issue, Ksh Imo cautioned that a series of protests might erupt among the deprived people otherwise.
