Imphal, May 14 2023:
Asserting that the conduct of Kuki militant groups under Suspension of Operation (SoO) agreement is about to cross the tolerable limit of the indigenous people, the All Manipur United Clubs' Organisation (AMUCO) has urged the Central Government to make their stand clear on the conflict at the earliest.
In a statement signed by its security publicity Laishram Krishnachandra Khuman, AMUCO claimed that the plot of the Kuki militants and intrusion of the drug mafia from Myanmar to wipe out the indigenous folks of Manipur should be acknowledged by the Government.
The Organisation said that they strongly condemn the Government for not intervening to save the indigenous folks when these druglords have allegedly started settling in different places of Manipur by buying land with drug money.
Asking why the Centre signed a SoO pact with Kuki militant groups which allegedly were formed solely to protect drug businesses, AMUCO claimed that the Centre needs to abrogate the pact immediately as the Kuki militants have showed its true colour.
"Even if the Centre didn't know the motive of Kuki militant groups while signing the agreement they need to cancel it now," AMUCO said.
Why is the Centre not taking any action when a section of people in hill districts have committed such a serious crime against humanity by engaging in widespread poppy plantations and drug business, AMUCO asked.
Further asking why the Central Government is not taking any concrete action against the Kuki militant groups when the latter has started attacking civilians and security personnel using automatic guns, AMUCO said that the Government has to cancel the SoO agreement immediately as the Kuki militants will be a hindrance in restoring peace.
Saying that the sincerity of the Government is imperative to restore normalcy in the State, AMUCO claimed that the ethnic conflict was orchestrated by Kuki militant groups to carry out drug business and poppy plantations freely.
It has become clear that these druglords want to establish their own State with the easy money coming from drug businesses by displacing the indigenous people, AMUCO claimed.
Alleging that formation of a political party and procurement of sophisticated weapons are also done by utilising the drug money, AMUCO claimed that the drug cartels are also trying to fulfil their political aspiration by joining the already established political party to have a hand in the State administration.
Claiming further that the Kuki militant groups are being used by the drug cartel, AMUCO alleged that these druglords don't want innocent Kuki civilians to live harmoniously with people of other communities or have a good relation with the Government.
These druglords don't even worry about the future of their own people, AMUCO claimed and alleged that extermination of these druglords from the soil of Manipur is necessary to restore peace and normalcy in the State.
AMUCO also asked why the Kuki militant groups under SoO pact are not endorsing the measure being taken up to restore peace or give any positive response.
The drug cartel and Kuki militant groups under SoO don't want the situation in Manipur to become normal and the same can be verified by its continuous efforts to attack one of the parties in conflict and Central and State security personnel for interfering, AMUCO claimed.
It is time the Government cancel the SoO agreement to crack down on the drug cartel to save the people of Manipur and their resources, AMUCO said and asked the Centre to not get carried away by the false assurances of the drug cartel coming from Myanmar.
Further asking why the large number of Central security forces deployed in Manipur are unable to suppress the Kuki militants, AMUCO asked whether the Central forces were sent to Manipur to heighten tension or for rehabilitation works.
The Central forces need to take responsibility for the abduction of some civilians by Kuki militant groups.
