Imphal, May 14 2023:
Employees of Manipur Government have cautioned of tendering mass resignation if the tripartite agreement be-tween the central and state gov-ernments and Kuki militants for Suspension of Operation (So0) is not withdrawn.
According to a source, since the So0 was inked in 2005, Kuki militants have opened designat-ed camps at various locations.
However, the militants have repeatedly violated the ground rules of the agreement and pre-venting government employees from discharging their duties, not to mention instances of abducting and assaulting the employees.
Even now, amid the prevailing situation in the state, heavily armed Kuki mil-itants under So0 have openly joined public protests and at-tacking the state forces and the innocent civilians, apart from burning houses and destroying properties.
The source continued that the Kuki militants are continuing to open fire at Meitei villages near the hill areas and injuring many.
On top of this, many government employees have been injured and killed over the years by the So0 militants.
In such a situation, the state government employees are unable to perform their duties and as such, the employees de-manded for withdrawal of the tripartite agreement with the Kuki militants and taking up the necessary legal action.
If the government fails to withdraw the agreement, then all officials and employees, who have suf-fered at the hands of the Kuki militants, will resign enmasse from their respective posts.
