Imphal, February 13 2022:
Maintaining that public representatives should have no season when it comes to serving the public, JD-U candidate in Thangmeiband assembly constituency and sitting MLA Khumukcham Joykisan has called upon the people to reject candidates, who are active only during poll season, no matter who the candidate is including him.
Attending a youth meet organised by Thangmeiband Kendra Development Organisation (TAKDO) Youth Front at Chingakham Lampak community hall on Sunday, Joykisan said that the youth front of TAKDO was formed with long-term vision and objectives.
Members of the front brought up several good suggestions and he will do his best to translate these suggestions into action.
There have been several bright students, who could have easily cleared civil services examinations with little support but could not make a better career due to financial positions of their families.
The youth front's suggestion to help such bright students is a good one, he said and assured of a corpus fund of Rs 20 lakh for the purpose if he got re-elected.
The MLA also claimed that there are some candidates, who are hiring participants for their poll campaign meetings and suggested that such candidates serve the public first if they want true supporters in their campaign meetings.
One can never win election by depending on money power, he said.
Joykisan then assured of developing playgrounds in different parts of the constituency and improve education infrastructure.
JD-U candidate for the Yaiskul AC seat Thounaojam Brinda, who also attended the meet, said that lack of opportunities and facilities render the talents of bright students meaningless.
The youth of the state do not have social security and their future is bleak.
As such, the public should elect candidates, who would work for a bright future for the youth and the'society.
Former prosecution director Ngangom Tejkumar, TAKDO tribal forum president Danny Malangmei and leaders of the youth front also attended the youth meet.
