The Minister maintained that Manipuri youths are not lagging behind other youths of the country.
However, it is unfortunate that their energy is sometime being diverted to other unwanted activities like bandh, blockade, etc.
So, there is there is the need to channelize their talent and potential in the right direction.

He also stressed on the need on the part of the parents to understand what their children want to do in life.
In his presidential address, Principal Secretary of Education (S) Dr J Suresh Babu, who is also the Chairman of BOSEM, noted that since most of the officials in charge of ZEOs are teachers who have been promoted to the post at fag end of their career, they could not contribute much.
Similar is the case with appointment of headmasters.
As a consequence, most government schools could not function to their full potential.
Taking into consideration of all these difficulties, discussions are underway for appointment of 50 percent of the officials in Education Department through examination conducted by MPSC and the remaining 50 percent from among the teachers through promotion.
Under this arrangement, graduate teachers who have been in service for 15 years would be allowed to sit for the examination to become headmasters, Dr Suresh Babu explained.
Participating in the function as Guest of Honour, Director of Education (S) W Rajen observed that with most students paying attention to education only and having no time even to interact with their relatives and neighbours, there is the apprehension of a widening gap between these students and the social norms.
Expressing concern over increasing number of educated unemployed youths in the State, the Director also emphasized on the need to impart lessons on life skills which would be in good stead when one completes his/her education.
