Imphal, June 08 2012:
Semi-low floor buses provided to the State under JNURM will be put into service on three routes for a period of one month on trial basis starting from June 14 .
This was stated by Transport and Works Minister Kh Ratankumar who is also the Chairman of United Metropolitan Transport Authority (UMTA) at MSRTC complex this afternoon.
Bus fare has been fixed at the rate of Rs 10 for any destination.
Nevertheless, finer details about the fare would be discussed between Transport officials and Traffic Police, he said.
As against five routes already identified, bus service would be introduced only on three routes for the moment.
All the routes would start from Heijigang (Canchipur) on NH-2 and their termination points would be Koirengei, ISBT and Iroishemba Zoological Garden.
These routes would pass through certain parts of Imphal East district, BT Flyover, Thoubal Parking, Malom Bazar and Langjing.
The existing semi-low floor bus service between Thangal Keithel and Paona Keithel would remain unaltered, Ratankumar said.
