Mishaps claim 2 at Kakching

Imphal, June 08 2012:
Two people died while atleast 40 others were injured in two separate road accidents at two different places under Kakching Police Station today.
In the first incident, a passenger bus met with an accident at around 7.15 am at Kakching Khunu Chingjin.
Handyman of the bus died at the spot while atleast 30 passengers including a one-year-old child were injured.
Unconfirmed reports said that the handyman is suspected to be one Shyam from Laphupat Tera, but currently putting up at Sugnu Khongyam.
The bus (MN-01/1314) operates passenger service between Imphal and Sugnu.
The fateful incident happened after the main spring of the vehicle snapped suddenly at Kakching Khunu Chingjin.
Police have deposited the corpse of the deceased at JNIMS morgue for identification.
The injured persons were rushed to Vision Hospital, Kakching Lamdong.
In another deadly mishap occured at around 11 am at Kakching Chumnang, near Leibaklei Gas Service, one elderly person died while atleast 12 persons were injured.
A Waikhong bound Maruti van (MNL 05G/7846) from Kakching collided head on with a passenger Tata Magic van (MN04A/7388) at Kakching Chumnang along ImphalSugnu Road.
Naorem Iboton (90) of Kakching Khunyai and Laishram Ongbi Leibakleima (56) of Thongjao were seriously injured in the incident.
However, Iboton sucumbed to injuries at RIMS Hospital.
All the injured persons were rushed to Kakching CHC and Vision Hospital, Kakching.
However, critically injured persons were later referred to Shija, RIMS and JNIMS hospitals.
