Imphal, June 08 2012:
Reacting to charges of fund embezzlement levelled by an armed group against Project Director (MDS) Y Ningthem Singh, Thangting Area Chief Association, Bunglon (Churachandpur) and District Development Committee, Chandel dismissed the allegations as baseless and fabricated.
With regard to the UG group accusing Y Ningthem of misappropriating 70 percent of fund meant for the hill districts, statements issued by the two organisations proposed to all concerned to visit and assess/witness the 'excellent works' executed by the MDS under the leadership of Y Ningthem Singh.
Opining that due to naivety of the accusing organisation the allegations might have been levelled against the Project Director, Thangting Area Chief Association said "few people visit the interiors of the district (Churachandpur) but MDS engineers with the intention to develop the hill areas have successfully completed various works such as construction of Churachandpur Hospital, tourism destinations at Khuga Dam, Singhat, Beihang, Tuima, Thanlon, Parbung, Leiyangphai, Santing, Champi, Tuilapha, Patpuihmun, etc" .
Urging all concerned to refrain from levelling unjustifiable charges against a handful of honest Government officials, the Association suggested that every section of the society need to encourage result-oriented people who take the risk and work in remote and very interior parts of the State.
In a similar vein, the Chandel Committee vehemently rejected the UG group's allegation of Y Ningthem misusing the fund allocation for the hill areas in connivance with some bureaucrats.
The District sports Complex at Chandel, various primary schools under RMSA, the Indo-Myanmar Friendship Gate at Moreh, PHSCs in remote corners of the district, community halls and market sheds with colourful DYNA roofing to beautify the hills and bring all round development are some of the works implemented under the aegis of MDS, the Committee mentioned.
Appreciating the leadership of the Project Director (MDS), the Committee opined that false and fabricated charges against the few honest Government officials would be detrimental to not only the people in the hill areas but to the entire State.
