Cabinet fixes ULB, PRI election dates

The state cabinet meeting chaired by chief minister N Biren has approved conduct of elections to Urban Local Bodies (ULBs) and Panchayat on June 5 and 26 respectively.
The cabinet meeting held at the CM's secretariat on Thursday evening discussed around 20 listed and unlisted agenda.
Sources said that as per the cabinet decision, election notification will be issued on May 5 with the last date of filing nomination on May 9, scrutiny on May 10, last date for withdrawal of candidature on May 12, election on June 5, re poll, if any on June 7, and counting on June 9 .
For Panchayat elections, notification will be issued on May 15, last date for filing nomination on May 22, scrutiny on May 23, withdrawal of candidature on June 26, re-poll, if any, on June 28, and counting on June 30 .
In another agenda, the state cabinet decided to approve construction of Imphal ring road and traffic junctions in Imphal city and intimate the Centre for starting construction works as also improvement of roads in Imphal city and construction of rigid pavement drains in Imphal city with concrete one.
The cabinet also approved appointment of consultancy service for Manipur State Roads Improvement programme.
The cabinet also approved Integrated Sewerage System for Imphal City Phase-II and decided to seek approval from the Centre for the project.
The cabinet also decided to rename the Loktak lake eco-tourism project into sustainable Loktak lake restoration & livelihood improvement project and to issue work order for rejuvenation of Lamphelpat water body following completion of tender process.
The cabinet also approved release of Rs 30 crore for construction of Manipur IT-SEZ building.
The cabinet further approved allotment of land at 12 different places for construction of treatment plants for Imphal sewerage project Phase-II.
The cabinet also revised costs of Thoubal multipurpose project to Rs 87.70 crore and not to revise the cost anymore and approved completion of the project.
The cabinet also approved conduct of second phase of short industry link training for 2,000 trainees.
