HSLCE 2023 underway, three expelled on Day-1

The High School Leaving Certificate Examination (HSLCE) 2023, which is being conducted by Board of Secondary Education Manipur (BSEM) commenced from Thursday with 38,127 students appearing in the examination at 158 exam centres set up across the state.
On the first day of the examination, three candidates from two exam centres were expelled for impersonation.
Roll numbers of the expelled candidates are 15,877 and 15,860 from MG Evergreen High School, Pallel, and 15,582 from Ideal High School, Pallel.
BSEM deployed 64 four-member flying squads to ensure fair and peaceful conduct of the examination.
Out of the 38,127 candidates, 8130 are from government schools, 1520 from aided schools and 28,477 candidates from private schools.
There are 12 visually impaired and physically handicapped candidates among the examinees.
The examination will conclude on April 3 and result of same is being tentatively scheduled for declaration in the second week of May.
Private schools have the highest number of examinees at 28,477 followed by government schools at 8,130 and state-aided institutions at 1520 .
Meanwhile, the district magistrates of Thoubal, Kangpokpi and Bishnupur have imposed prohibitory order under Section 144 of CrPC between 8 am and 1 pm in a 100-metre radius from the examination centres till April 3 .
The order will not apply to government machinery engaged in the enforcement of law and order, teachers involved in the conduct of the examination, and the examinees.
SENAPATI: The High School Leaving Certificate Examination, 2023 conducted by the Board of Secondary Education, Manipur (BSEM) commenced at seven private examination centres in Senapati district with 1886 candidates sitting for the exam.
Candidates at three exam centres at district headquarters including Lao Radiant Hr Sec School, DV School and Bethany Hr Sec School were frisked by the invigilators before the start of the examination.
During inspection by the ZEO officials, L Solomon, ZEO Senapati, informed that there are seven examination centres in the district with 1886 candidates appearing from different schools, adding that the exam got underway peacefully in all the centres.
RK Graceson, district coordinator ZEO office Senapati, stated that the examination is conducted in such a way that there is no room for unfair means.
The examination centres are very conducive away from noise distraction.
Teachers, invigilators and security personnel are on duty at all the examination centres for a smooth conduct of the examination, he added.
Student bodies including Senapati District Students' Association and its federating units including Mao Students' Union, Maram Students' Union and Poumai Naga Students' Union are also inspecting the examination centres to ensure free and fair examination.
Earlier, Senapati DC had imposed 144 CrPC in and around the exam centres to ensure peaceful conduct of the HSLC examination.
A total of 242 candidates are taking the examination at Don Bosco Hr Sec School (Maram), 250 at Mao Maram Hr Sec School (Tadubi), 221 at Sardar Patel High School (Mao), 295 at Bethany Hr Sec School, 307 at Lao Radiant Hr Sec School, 239 at DV School, and 332 at Purul Hr Sec School.
CCPUR/NONEY: As in other areas of the state, a total of 805 students appeared in the English subject of the HSLC Examination 2023 conducted by BSEM in Churachandpur and Noney districts on Thursday.
Altogether 125 students appeared in the HSLC examination for the first time at the newly designated examination centre at Singngat Higher Secondary School, located in the Indo-Myanmar border village of Singngat.
The students appearing in the examination are from St Joseph School, Hill Model School, Rayburn School, Singngat Higher Secondary School, Standard and Suang-doh High Schools.
Singhat MLA Chinlunthang Zou visited Singngat Higher Secondary School and gave an exhortation speech prior to the start of the examination, while a local pastor from Evangelical Baptist Convention administered a prayer for the students.
On the other hand, the HSLC examination was held in three examinations in Noney district on Thursday.
In all, 680 students (394 males and 286 females) appeared in the examination, while 10 other students, who applied for the examination, were absent.
There were no reports of any expulsion on the first day of examination in Noney district.
In the examination centre set up at Tengkonjang Higher Secondary School, 297 candidates had enrolled for the examination but only 286 students (154 males and 132 females) appeared, while 6 were absent.
At the Nungba Higher Secondary School exam centre, altogether 210 candidates had applied for appearing in the examination, of which 207 candidates appeared and 3 candidates were marked absent.
At Khangsillung Higher Secondary School, 183 can didates applied, of which 182 candidates appeared in the examination while one student was marked absent.
