CRAU pull off massive victory; SCCC win but stay in relegation

Imphal, March 16 2023:
CRAU moved two spots up to the seventh position in the MNCA Elite Tournament table after drubbing MPSC by eight wickets while SCCC remained in the relegation zone despite claiming a win on Thursday.
CRAU produced a lethal bowling attack to bundle out MPSC for 72 in 28.1 overs and laid the foundation for their comfortable run chase.
Good bowling efforts by Me-htab Jamal and Lamabam Ajay Singh earned themselves three wickets each while Heishnam Joyhenba Meitei and Dinu Sa-rangfhem did their bit with two scalps for the Khamnam Bazar squad.
None of MPSC's batmen manage to cross the 20-run mark in their innings riddled with five ducks.
CRAU overhauled the target in 17.3 overs for the loss of two wickets.
Opener Santomba K led the chase scoring an unbeaten 30 as Lamabam Jotin made 35 off 50 balls and Mehtab Jamal was unbeaten on 8.Khangenbam Bimol was run out for a duck.
Mehtab Jamal claimed the man of the match title for his three wickets and 8 (not out) .
The win propelled CRAU to the seventh place from ninth in the standings, overtaking Al-Ameen, with six points from seven matches.
SCCC, meanwhile, beat Blue Hawk by 12 runs.
SCCC scored 205/7 after electing to bat first.
Their total was built on efforts by Ulenyai Khwairakpam (46), Oinam Pradeep (27 not out), Basant (23), Rahul Chandra (19), Phijam Langamba (18 not out), Sandeep Chakraborty (18), Lishan Khaidem (14) and Laishram Ronson (13) .
For Blue Hawk, N Jakiech-and, W Samson and Becker Roy took two wickets each while Samsung Heisnam bagged one.
SCCC needed 38.5 overs to bowl out Blue Hawk for 193 for their 12-run victory.
In the chase, Blue Hawk put up a spirited fight courtesy of by Becker Roy (58), W Samson (27) and Gautam Soubam (22) but the trio's efforts weren't enough.
Sandeep Chakraborty (2 wickets & 18 runs) was named the man of the match.
It was SCCC's first win from six matches.
They remain in the relegation zone at eleventh, just above bottom-placed Blue Hawk, who are still without a win from their seven games.
