Capacity building workshop begins

A two-day capacity building workshop organised jointly by Indian Chamber of Commerce, Regional Office Guwahati and Department of Commerce, Manipur University under the supervision of Ministry of Commerce & Industries commenced from Thursday at MU court hall.
The inaugural function of the workshop under the theme 'Entrepreneurship Development and Export Oriented Skills' was attended by CSSIEP, Manipur University director Prof E Bijoykumar, workshop convenor Prof Ch Ibohal Meitei, North East Small Finance Bank, Imphal branch manager Ningthoujam Bigyan Lenin, MSME Technology Centre, Ministry of MSME deputy director Dr Sinam Yoirentomba Meetei and National Academy of Customs, Indirect Taxes & Narcotics additional director general Harsh Vardhan and Anand Rao Umre as presidium members.
Addressing the gathering, Prof Ch Ibohal said that the capacity building workshop is being organised to promote entrepreneurship in the state by identifying the opportunities as well as challenges faced by the entrepreneurs.
The workshop will examine issues besetting the entrepreneurs related to banking, infrastructure, government regulations and customs among others.
If entrepreneurs produce products with an eye on exporting the same, then many others would be encouraged to venture into similar enterprises after completing their education and become job providers instead of j ob seekers by tying up with funding agencies, he added.
