Father who visits son in jail with drugs lands in police net

In an interesting turn of event, a man who went to meet his son in Sajiwa Jail here landed in police custody after he was found in possession of five pieces of drugs for giving to his son.
According to police report, 50-year old Moses Vashum of Yaingangpokpi village, Ukhrul district came to meet his jailed son 28-year old Mayangam Vashum at Sajiwa Central jail today when the jail guards found some substances in his 'inner pockets' .
When asked about the substance, Moses told the guards that they were medicines for treatment of stone cases of his son.
But on further interrogation, Moses finally disclosed that they were drugs bought from North AOC, Imphal for his son and he had spent Rs 500 on buying those five pieces of Heroin powder for his son.
It is said that Mayangam Vashum is an under-trial prisoner who has been in the jail since February 6 last in connection with extortion case.
Moses was subsequently arrested and handed over to the custody of Heingang Police.
