BSNL leaves subscribers in the lurch

Imphal, June 10 2014:
Residents and private offices including that of Hueiyen Lanpao have been completely deprived of telephone service for more than two weeks now by Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd, Imphal after the Government started eviction of structures along the Tiddim road stretch from Keishampat to Kwakeithel in Imphal West district for expansion of the road.
BSNL telephone service to the subscribers residing along this road stretch has stopped since May 28 last after the Imphal West district administration began the eviction drive.
The main phone line was cut when the structures located along the road stretch, which is about 3 km long, were dismantled by the authority for expansion of road.
When requested to repair the damaged telephone line, the BSNL authority has replied that the State Government did not give prior information to the company before the eviction drive.
Moreover, there has been no sign of any efforts being made to restore the service and when would be damaged telephone line would be mended is not known.
Hueiyen Lanpao has three BSNL phone connections, which are supposed to get 24-hour internet facility, but the BSNL authority has failed to understand the importance of this facility in a media house.
