SK Women College becomes first in state to get NAAC A grade

The S Kulla Women's College, Kongkham, Nambol has become the first college in Manipur to be graded A under the National Assessment Accredited Council (NAAC) .
The occasion was celebrated by the college today at its indoor stadium Hall today with Vice Chancellor, Manipur University Professor H Nandakumar and Principal of the college Dr L Birendrakumar and Registrar of Manipur University Prof N Lokendra as Chief Guest, President and Guest of Honour respectively.
Speaking on the occasion, Prof H Nandakumar announced that S Kulla Women's College, situated at Nambol, away from the capital Imphal, has become the first ever college among different government and private colleges in the state to get A grade under NAAC.
Since it is not an easy to get such recognition, the college should strive for maintaining its grade.
It is due to relentless efforts of the teachers, students and authority of the college which has made it possible to earn the recognition, he said.
Prof Nandakumar pointed out that the college needs to increase its students' strength from the present 350 to a minimum of 500 to get the optimum condition status and this would require the joint efforts of the teachers, students and the authority of the college.
He went on to point out that University Grant Commission (UGC) is providing financial assistances to colleges to built girls' hostel and library buildings.
So, the authority of S Kulla Women College should apply for the grant to make the college a more successful one.
Since, the college has earned A grade, it should be easier to get such financial assistance from UGC without much effort.
On the other hand, students and teachers should fully utilised the laboratory equipments available in the college, he added.
The Vice Chancellor informed that 20 Women's Central Universities have been established across the country under the 12th Plan of the Centre.
So, if the college has a minimum minimum of 500 students, it can apply for special assistance from the Centre under its policies of higher education for women.
Principal of the college, Dr Birendrakumar noted that Modern College is the first college in Manipur to get accreditation under NAAC.
However, S Kulla Women College has become the first college in Manipur to get A grade under NAAC.
While rejoicing over this unique achievement, we should not remain idle and neglect our duties.
Instead, teachers should put extra efforts towards imparting higher education and more to the students to maintain its quality.
In the same time, students should also work hard and put maximum efforts in making themselves better future pillars of the society, he exhorted.
A team of NAAC visited the college from March 15 to 17 and inspected the condition and quality of the college.
Satisfied with the situation and the way of imparting education in the college, NAAC awarded A grade.
