TPR drops below 5pc after 33 days; 3 die

The daily test positivity rate has dropped below 5 per cent for the first time after 33 days as government bulletins reported 90 new positive cases of Covid-19 out of 1837 samples tested in the last 24 hours, registering a positivity rate of 4.90 per cent against 6.88 per cent recorded on Saturday.
The TPR crossed 5 per cent on January 11.Sunday also reported three death cases which took number of the pandemic toll to 2083 .
They were unvaccinated residents from Imphal East, Imphal West and Kangpokpi district.
The virus has claimed lives of 178 vaccinated people of which 52 had received second doses till date.
In the last 24 hours, 139 patients were discharged from home isolation (106), RIMS (4), JNIMS (5) and CCCs (24) .
The active cases came down to 2269 out of which 552 (24.33 per cent) are in home isolation.
There are 241 vacant beds available in JNIMS and 102 in RIMS but there is no updated information on bed availability in Covid Care Centres.
Out of the 16 districts, six were free from fresh cases on Sunday.
So far, the state has recorded 10050 positive cases and 81 fatalities since the third wave of the pandemic hit the state.
The current month has reported 2592 new positive cases and 37 fatalities.
The weekly number of new cases and new fatalities are 976 and 20 respectively.
According to official reports, 89 people (40 male & 49 female) out of the 90 fresh cases are from among the general population and one is a Central Armed Police Force (CAPF) jawan whose samples were confirmed at RIMS (22), JNIMS (9) and other testing centres (59) .
The positive cases from among the general population are from Imphal East (20), Imphal West (26), Thoubal (8), Bishnupur (11), Kakching (5), Kangpokpi (2), Tamenglong (2), Ukhrul (1), Senapati (2) and Churachandpur (12) .
The cumulative number of positive cases has reached 1,35,838 (general population - 1,30,841 and CAPF personnel - 4,997).Number of recovered cases is 1,31,486 (general population - 1,26,588 and CAPF personnel - 4,898) and number of active cases is 2269 (general population - 2177 and CAPF personnel - 92).The recovery rate is 96.80 per cent.
A total of 269 D-type and 70 B-type Oxygen cylinders have been made available to different health facilities in the last 24 hours while 6230 vaccine doses were administered on Saturday taking the cumulative number of vaccinated individuals to 14,84,059, out of which 10,95,103 have received second doses and 49,381 had taken precautionary doses.
As per data maintained by The People's Chronicle based on IDSP and CCR reports, number of total cases in different districts are Imphal West (48,280), Imphal East (30,162), Thoubal (10,059), Churachandpur (10,998), Kangpokpi (3095), Tamenglong (3440), Bishnupur (9717), Senapati (2450), Ukhrul (3205), Kakching (6824), Chandel (2671), Noney (1143), Tengnoupal (1182), Jiribam (1109), Kamjong (1031) and Pherzawl (465) .
Fatality counts in different districts are Imphal West (696), Imphal East (501), Thoubal (186), Churachandpur (166), Kangpokpi (66), Tamenglong (15), Bishnupur (200), Senapati (11), Ukhrul (49), Kakching (120), Chandel (42), Noney (5), Tengnoupal (14), Jiribam (7), Kamjong (5), and Pherzawl (0) .
Data analysed by this daily shows that the rate of infection remains 43,776 confirmed cases per million population (based on projected population of 31,03,000 as per NCP report) against the national average of 30,410 CPM.
Test rate has improved to 5,00,317 tests per million population against the national average of 5,35,512 TPM.
Case fatality rate stands at 1.53 per cent.
In the past 24 hours, only 1837 samples were tested and the single day positivity rate was 4.90 per cent while the cumulative positivity stands at 8.75 per cent.
