MSCW team visits rape victim

Imphal, July 11 2013: A team of Manipur State Commission for Women (MSCW) led by its Chairperson, Dr L Ibetombi Devi with members June Rose Vaiphei, H Piteswori Devi and Member Secretary, S Meghachandra Sharma, conducted a spot inquiry on July 9 into the commission of rape of a 11 years old minor girl on July 5 by Kangujam Loken Singh of Phaknung Mayai Leikai who is the elder brother of the victim's father.

A press release of MSCW stated that the team minutely enquired into the matter by taking statements of the family members of the culprit including his wife Kangujam (O) Rashi Devi and son K Thoiba Singh.

Further the statement of Kangujam Ingo Singh who is the father of the victim girl was taken and he wished the immediate arrest of the culprit.

A meeting held at the Chamber of the Chairperson MSCW at 5 pm after the inquiry has resolved to initiate a suo-moto case against the culprit and to call status report from the concerned Police Station and medical report in connection with the said occurence, the release informed.
