MSCW conducts spot inquiry

Imphal, July 11 2013:
A team of Manipur State Commission for Women (MSCW) led by its Chairperson Dr I Ibetombi Devi and comprising Members June Rose Vaiphei; H Piteswori Devi and Member Secretary S Meghachandra Sharma made a spot inquiry on July 9 in connection with the rape incident of a minor girl by her uncle Kangujam Loken Singh of Phaknung Mayai Leikai.
The team minutely inquired into the matter by taking statements of the family members of the culprit including his wife K (o) Rashi Devi and son K Thoiba Singh.
Further, they took statement of the father of the victim namely K Ingo Singh, who demanded immediate arrest of the culprit, according to a statement issued by the Commission.
After the spot visit, members of the team held a meeting at the chamber of the Chairperson at 5PM and decided to initiate a suo-moto case against the culprit and to call the status report from the concerned police station and medical report in connection with the said occurrence.
