Disturbed area status extended

Imphal, July 11 2013:
The disturbed area status imposed in the State with exception to seven assembly constituencies under Imphal Municipality has been extended for another six months.
A decision to this effect was taken during a State Cabinet meeting today.
According to report reaching Hueiyen Lanpao, the issue of extending disturbed area status in the State brought up by Para military Force and Manipur Police was discussed in length during the meeting today and finally resolved to extend the disturbed area status for another six months.
The report further said that the imposition of disturbed area status in Manipur for one year got expired four months back and the State Cabinet had discussed the matter in accordance to an order of the Supreme Court in this regard.
The Cabinet meeting also reportedly discussed the agenda related to taking over Sana Konung by the State Government and the process for issuing eviction notice was brought up for discussion.
However, none of the Cabinet Ministers have given any comment on this.
