Jeevan Mangal campaign held at Ukhrul

As a part of the sensitization drive of micro insurance of Life Insurance corporations (LIC), India one-day awareness campaign was held today at Awontang Community Hall, Ukhrul.
Chairmen, secretaries and youth leader from 27 localities of Hunphun/Ukhrul attended the programme.
The chief Manager, Micro Insurance, LIC, N Luikham spoke on the idea of saving, insurance and categorizing the difference of banking service and insurance policy.
He said that insurance is a legal contract between policy holder and LIC for specific reasons with terms and conditions.
During the discussion, the policy holders of Jeevan Mangal enquired of their insured sum, where by MGNREGS Card holder have deposited in the policy since two years back after the memorandum signed with the NGO, Afford, BDO Ukhrul and LIC.
The Chief functionary of Afford replied that insurance policy has been lapsed but can be revived after payment of the dues with fine.
The LIC distributed Rs 10,000 cheques each to 6 persons of the policy holders under Jeevan Mangal.
