Imphal, July 11 2013:
Demanding transfer of the present Director of Transport as well as finalization of a State Transport Policy, all passenger vehicles plying on the roads have threatened to stop services until and unless these demands are fulfilled.
Announcing this to mediapersons today Arambam Priyokumar, Secretary of All Manipur Bus Owner Federation (AMBOF), stated that a meeting with the Minister of Transport, Principal Secretary and Director had been held along with members of AMBOF.
During the meeting, it was agreed that no new permit for passenger vehicles would be issued until and unless a Transport Policy has been finalized in the State.
However, with complete disregard to this agreement, the Director has found to have been issuing permit to vehicles.
This is against the interest of the transporters.
He further stated that the all types of passenger vehicles would stop their services until the present Director is replaced by another Director.
In addition, formation of a Transport Policy should be finalized at once, Priyokumar demanded.
