State BJP delegation pleads Centre on various issues

New Delhi, June 19 2014:
A high power delegation of BJP Manipur Pradesh led by its president Th.Chaoba Singh has submitted a brief report on the prolonged defunct State Information Commission and Manipur State Human Rights Commission through the officials of PMO on Wednesday, said a press statement issued by L.Bashanta Sharma, State General Secretary (Media), BJP Manipur Pradesh.
A similar report was also submitted through the Ministry of Union Home Ministry.
The team also submitted a proposal for strengthening the Judiciary System in Manipur by giving more empowerment, a statement from the BJP team being camped in Delhi said.
The State delegation would call on the Prime Minister and the Home Minister to categorically discuss certain issues of Manipur at length within a couple of days, the statement disclosed, while informing that the delegation also met Union Minister of Agriculture Radha Mohon and other high ranking officials of the Ministry in his office chamber.
The delegation on June 17 not only pressed the Minister on many areas of Agriculture and allied sectors which are yet to be equipped with modern technologies, but also submitted an elaborate proposal for improvement of agricultural and its allied activities to meet the state's growing demand.
According to the statement, some of the points placed before the Union Agriculture Minister included opening of a new Central Agricultural College equipped with latest facilities and infrastructural development in rural area of Manipur, facilitation of proper irrigation system in both hill and valley areas, upgrading the existing KVK centres in Manipur and opening of more KVK centres in the state, and demand for special occupational rehabilitation package for 777 displaced fishermen of Loktak Lake who were evicted by State Government in 2011 .
Demand for special financial package for dependent fishermen of Loktak lake in consultation with All Loktak Lake Area Fishermen Union, and extensive horticulture development scheme in Hill areas of Manipur through community participation were also included in the proposals, said the statement.
The Union Agriculture Minister assured the delegation to open a Central Agriculture College in a suitable rural area of Manipur, for which a formal announcement will be made soon, informed the statement.
While informing about the meeting with Union Minister of Environment and Forest Prakash Javedkar on June 17 last, the statement said hectic discussion was held on ecological crisis due to the adverse impact of the Loktak Hydel Project commissioned by NHPC and its impact on socio-cultural life of dependents on the lake.
The team further demanded to cause a post environmental impact assessment on Loktak Hydel Project by a high power expert committee under the Union Environment and Forest Ministry.
It also requested the Minister to re-examine the Loktak Protection Act 2006 so that the natural eco system of the lake could be restored and the affected and dependent people of Loktak may be given a new lease of life through such humanitarian act, stated the statement, adding that the Minister assured the team to do the needful.
The team is expected to call on various Ministers and High level officials of different Ministries to plead the core issues Manipur facing today.
