Coming down heavily against the encroachment on public properties like National Highway for personal benefits and blocking of drainage system along the NH-2, the Naga People's Organization (NPO) has warned those responsible to immediately stop such activities in public interest.
According to a statement issued by NPO Grievances Cell convenor Ch Parang, certain individuals on the pretext of earth works for house construction have been dumping mud and stones on NH-2 causing serious traffic issues and damaging the highway and blocking drains.
Expressing dismay over the issue, the apex body of the district noted that many self centred individual, without the consent of the Government Department or authorities concerned, continue to dump earth works on the highway.
Additionally, with the monsoon rain already damaging the highway, potholes, poor drainage, landslide and poor maintenance by the Government and encroachment by some individuals have aggravated the Highway's condition.
Repeated information and public notices have been issued in the past by the NPO, however, they continue to defy the appeals, Parang stated.
The NPO cell while appealing to all the concerned to immediately remove all muds, stones dumped on the highway and the drain at the earliest, said it will act accordingly without further information in case of failure.
