Imphal, August 06 2016 :
Barely 24 hours after a bomb exploded near Manipur State Museum injuring a CRPF personnel and a kid, a powerful IED weighing around 2 kg was found planted near M Sector (Defence PRO's office), located a few metres away from Raj Bhavan today morning.
A foot patrol party of 109th Battalion CRPF, who were manning Raj Bhavan, came across a suspicious object wrapped in a black polythene bag on the side of the road located between M Sector and Johnstone Higher Secondary School.
Soon after the object was detected, a large number of police and paramilitary personnel cordoned off the place to prevent entry of public to the area.

A team of Imphal West district police led by Additional SP (Operations) Th Vikramjit and Additional SP (Law and Order) S Ibomcha also arrived at the spot to supervise the police personnel.
Later, a bomb expert, who was in protective gear, went near the suspicious object and confirmed that it was indeed a powerful IED.
Bomb disposal vehicle was later called at the area.
The bomb experts then pulled up the explosive and put it inside the bomb disposal vehicle.
Later, it was taken away at around 6.30 am.
Police along with CRPF personnel then searched the surrounding areas by using metal detectors and sniffer dog to check presence of other bombs.
The place where the IED was found planted is located just a few metres from the site where a bomb exploded injuring a CRPF personnel and a child yesterday.
Meanwhile, 24 persons have been detained for verification during a search operation conducted at Kwakeithel Akham Leikai in Imphal West district today.
The operation was carried out under the supervision of Imphal West Additional SP (Operations) Th Vikramjit and Imphal West commando OC P Sanjoy as a preemptive measure ahead of Independence Day celebration.
The police blocked all the roads leading to the area and called out all the people who are between the age of 15 and 50 years for verification.
