Bogus beneficiaries

The district administration of Thoubal is set to crack down on bogus ration card holders issued to beneficiaries under the National Food Security Act.
An official memorandum to this effect was issued today by the Deputy Commissioner of Thoubal, T Ranjit Singh.
The memorandum said that the bogus/duplicate ration cards will be cancelled immediately after proper verification through the SDOs and DSO (CAF and PD), Thoubal.
The ration card holders who are not eligible under NFSA should surrender their ration cards immediately to the office of the DSO (CAF and PD) on or before August 22, said the office memorandum and added that the genuine/entitled persons who have not been issued the ration cards may submit fresh applications to the DSO (CAF and PD) on or before August 31 during office hours.
The families not eligible for the ration cards under NFSA are if any member of a household owns a light (four wheeler) or heavy vehicle, if the household is receiving ration/food subsidy under any other scheme and if any member of the household is an income tax payee.
