Awareness / workshop on child trafficking held in Kamjong

Kamjong, August 19 2022:
A one day awareness cum workshop on 'Combating Child Trafficking' was held on Thursday at Thawai village Community Hall under Kamjong district.
The event was organised by District Administration, Kamjong in collaboration with District Child Protection Unit, Kamjong.
Deputy Commissioner Rangnamei Rang Peter.
IAS and Superintendent of Police, P Manjit, IPS attended the event as the chief guest and guest of honour respectively.
DC Rangnamei Peter highlighted the need to combat the grave issues of child trafficking and abuse.
He appealed to all Government machinery, especially the police, NGOs and public to co-operate and co-ordinate in preventing child trafficking.
SP P Manjit also stressed on the need for all sections of society to stay vigilant and further assured that the Police Department will not leave any stone unturned while dealing with such cases.
As a part of the function, District Child Protection Officer (DCPO), Pabitra Thingbaijam presented a lecture on the topic 'Understanding Child Protection Systems'.
Moreover, Songamla Leikha, Social Worker FXB India Suraksha spoke on "Child Trafficking & Sexual Abuses" while Wungmakhok Zimik, member of Juvenile Justice Board spoke on the topic "Overview of Juvenile Justice Act".
More than one hundred participants attended the program.
