IBSD organises Industry-Connect programme for development of industry linkages in NER

Institute of Bioresources and Sustainable Development (IBSD), Department of Biotechnology, Ministry of Science and Technology, Government of India organized Industry Connect (1-Connect) programme for developing collaboration between industry and institutes.
The programme was attended by entrepreneurs from Manipur and different parts of the North Eastern Region of India.
During the event, several entrepreneurs shared their knowledge for the development of products/ processes/ technologies with value addition of bioresources and development bio-economy from bioresources, said a press release by IBSD.
This programme was organized under the Phytopharmaceutical Mission on developing bio-economy from bioresources under the leadership of Professor Pulok K Mukherjee, Director, IBSD, Imphal.

It may be noted that IBSD is exploring natural resources for the development of bio-economy at large and the programme highlighted specially the usage of medicinal plants, foods, bamboo species and other resources for the promotion of ethno-entrepreneurs in Manipur.
The programme was inaugurated by Dr Srivari Chandrasekhar, Secretary, Department of Science & Technology, Govt.of India, New Delhi and he highlighted the importance of traditional knowledge and medicinal plants available in NER.
Addressing the gathering, Jayant Sahasrabudhe, National Organising Secretary, Vijnana Bharati highlighted the efforts of IBSD for the documentation and validation of traditional knowledge for the development of bioresources in the state of Manipur.
He appreciated the efforts of the Director, IBSD for establishing the Science Museum in Chandel, Aspirational district of Manipur and suggested exploring such museums in other parts of NER to inculcate knowledge of science among students.
The programme was attended by many entrepreneurs from NER including Dr Th Dhabali Singh, Dr Palin Khundongbam, Kamesh Salam, Elizabeth Yambem, Phyrnai Shadap and traditional healers including TombiRaj Ningthoukhongjam and Asem Mohori Moirangcha.
Many speakers/ experts shared their ideas about opportunities for establishing industries in NER and knowledge for the development of products/ processes/ technologies with value addition of bioresources of NER.
Students and scientists of IBSD also attended the programme which was organised to commemorate the 75 years of Independence as a part of the occasion "Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav", added the release.
