Imphal, September 30 2021:
Alleging that drug menace is wide-spread wherever there are BJP Governments, the All India Congress Committee (AICC) observer and MP Pradyut Bordoloi has asked the people of the State to repose faith in the Congress party to bring an era of peace and development.
Addressing the media at Congress Bhawan today, the MP also recalled the recent Adani Mundra Port drug busting case at Gujarat and the multi crore drug haul case of Manipur.
The AICC observer went on to allege that drug menace is rising manifold under the patronage of the BJP Government and the same party is 'annihilating' the voice of democracy.
Pradyut also alleged that the acquittal of the main accused in one of the biggest multi-crore drug scams of Manipur shows that there is an absolute laxity on the part of Police Department and the Manipur Government's political will to fight drug menace.
Maintaining that the rate of unemployment in Mani-pur is alarming, the AICC observer continued that the BJP led State Government is concealing the actual
unemployment data .
Stressing on the prevalence of volatile law and order situation in Manipur, he said that the recent killing of Athuan Abonmai in broad daylight is a glaring example of lawlessness.
Congress condemns the murder of the public leader in the strongest term, he said and urged the Government to book the real culprits and deliver justice to the bereaved family.
He also chided the Central Government for not intervening even when the State Government has failed miserably in tackling the situation.
Claiming that the developmental works carried out in the State, including construction of highways and new Secretariat buildings started because of the initiatives taken up during the Congress rule in the State, Pradyut Bordoloi asserted that the Congress party is working round the clock to uproot the corrupt and ineffective BJP Government from the State.
He then appealed to the people to repose faith in the Congress pary in order to bring peace and development in the State.
