Imphal, June 16 2014:
An emergency general body meeting of Teachers' and Medical Officers' Association RIMS (TAMOA) was held today at 1:30 pm in Lecture Hall No.3 with Dr.Akoijam Joy Singh, president TAMOA in the chair.
After threadbare discussion, the meeting resolved to endorse the striking nurses' demands as all the participants of the meeting found the demands reasonable.
Since the demands were found reasonable, the general body unanimously decided to request RIMS authority to bring an amicable solution with the nurses on strike by 4 pm tomorrow.
It decided that TAMOA would suggest revocation of the suspension of some of the striking nurses so as to enable a fair process of negotiation.
Members of TAMOA may facilitate the negotiation process, if needed.
The general body found division of staff based on their caste and religion unjustified and unanimously condemned such an act initiated by RIMS administration.
This would have far reaching consequences, noted the general body meeting.
It further resolved that if there is no solution to the nurses' strike by 4 pm of June 17, the executive committee was endorsed to take up any befitting action including cessation of normal patient
care services.
The general body resolved that normal academic activities should be allowed to continue.
