All preparations for the 13th Great June Uprising, Unity Day have been completed and the observation committee has appealed to all organisations not to call any bandh or blockade on June 18 so that the observance can be participated by one and all.
Speaking to media persons at the Kwakeithel office of AMUCO, observation committee chairman Y Nabachandra said that all necessary and elaborate arrangements have been put in place for the June 18 anniversary which is a special day of remembering and paying tributes to the 18 martyrs.
He also conveyed gratitude to all who helped in cleaning and trimming Kekrupat ahead of the anniversary function.
The committee understands the difficulties likely to be encountered by security agencies in view of the mammoth gathering that would be seen on the day at Kekrupat.
Security agencies faced similar situation in the previous years.
For that, the committee is thankful to the security agencies, Nabachandra said.
He appealed to all the organisations not to call any bandh or blockade on the day so that everyone can attend the function which would feature a huge public meeting.
Observation committee vice-chairman Dr Y Mani said that the underlying essence of the June 18 anniversary which would be participated by different communities is to thwart off such incidents in future.
On being enquired about forging a collective identity, Y Nabachandra and Dr Y Mani said that they have been holding dialogues with different organisations on the matter and the same efforts would be carried forward relentlessly.
