Imphal, June 16 2014:
Serving an ultimatum to fulfill his promise by the end of July next, a total of 25 State Congress legislators have urged the Chief Minister to reshuffle his Ministry.
Chief Minister O Ibobi had promised at the time of his Government formation that two equal parts of his Government's tenure would be divided among party MLAs.
A well-placed source informed Hueiyen Lanpao Monday that 25 Congress MLAs have jointly written to the CM urging him to effect a reshuffle of his Government and remove all the 10 Ministers except Deputy Chief Minister Gaikhangam by the end of July next.
The letter was signed by the 25 MLAs.
But in the letter, signatures of the five MLAs of Manipur State Congress Party (MSCP) who had recently joined the State Congress were not taken.
Speculations are doing round this time that Ibobi is likely to face a serious crisis while tackling the situation due to the mounting pressure from 25 MLAs vying for ministerial berths.
Earlier, 25 Congress legislators had submitted a letter to the CM on the same demand.
"Our intent is not for toppling the Ibobi Government.
But the important thing is that we just want the CM to keep his promise," a Congress MLA said.
