Imphal, June 16 2014:
Maring Students Union (MSU) has strongly refuted the version given by Joint Non-Governmental Voluntary Organisation,(JNGVO), Kakching on inclusion of 25 villages in Chandel and termed it as false and baseless.
According to MSU, the 25 villages of Chandel district were never included in 37-Kakching assembly constituency in any period of their existence since the time of respective recognition as hill-house tax paying villages.
The electorates of these 25 villages are enrolled in the electoral rolls of 42-Tengnoupal (ST) assembly constituency as soon as the villages got recognition under Chandel district, the MSU claimed.
The Maring students' body further said the denial of the acts of vandalism and threats made to the villagers of Khangshim and Nungourok Maring villages on June 11 by the bandh supporters is a blatant lie.
It said that many signed boards in Khangshim, Nungourok and Aibuldam villages were damaged by the bandh supporters on the day.
The evidences of vandalism of that they can still be seen in the signed boards of Nungourok Baptist Church and the pastor's quarter of Khangshim Baptist Church and Aibuldam village.
"Is not this an act of vandalism?," asked MSU.
The Maring students' body then warned JNGVO to stop committing such acts and also giving false statements that can invite communal flare in the future.
"The JNGVO has no authority to determine in which districts these villages belonged to.
The Maring Students' Union also like to make its stand clear that not an iota of tribal land will be compromised at any cost," the MSU asserted.
The union then fervently appeals to the concerned authority to expedite the transferring of land records of to the concerned deputy commissioner at the earliest.
