Imphal, June 16 2014:
Reacting to a press statement of the Joint Non-Government Voluntary Organisation (JNGVO) as published in some section of the media on June 15, the Maring Students' Union (MSU) has rejected the same statement as false and baseless.
It contended that the particular 25 villages were never included in Kakching A/C at any period since their recognition as hill-house tax paying villages.
The electorate of these 25 villages were enrolled in the electoral rolls of Tengnoupal A/C as soon as the villages got recognition under Chandel district, said a press release issued by MSU general secretary DP Morung.
The denial of the acts of vandalism and threats issued to the villagers of Khangshim and Nungourok Maring villagers on June 12 by the bandh supporters was a blatant lie.
The evidence of vandalism of that day can still be seen in the signboards of Nungourok Baptist Church and Pastor's quarters of Khangshim Baptist Church and Aibuldam village.
Asking JNGVO to refrain from committing such acts and making false statements, MSU maintained that JNGVO has no authority to determine in which districts these villages belong to.
It further appealed to all concerned authority to expedite the process of transferring land records to the concerned DCs at the earliest.
