Review meeting on implementation of JJM, NDB water supply schemes held

Saitu AC MLA, Haokholet Kipgen on Monday convened a joint meeting at his official residence in Babupara, Imphal to review the implementation of Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) and New Development Bank (NBD) Water Supply Schemes in Saitu AC.
The joint meeting was attended by more than 227 village chiefs/Khunbus/Khullakpas from Saitu AC and PHED officials led by Joel Rangnamei, Executive Engineer of PHED, Kangpokpi division, apart from social workers from the constituency.
Addressing the gathering, Haokholet Kipgen conveyed his gratitude for the massive turnout of village chiefs and elaborated on the reasons for convening the meeting.

He conscientized the congregation on the importance of environmental conservation and the necessity to protect trees, especially in the catchment areas to prevent the drying up of traditional water sources, which is vital for survival.
The MLA also urged the gathering to fight the menace of deforestation and cultivation of poppy in their villages and sought the support of the village chiefs on the ongoing War on Drugs campaign widely launched by Chief Minister N Biren Singh.
Earlier, Joel Rangnamei, EE PHED Kangpokpi Division apprised the congregation of the status of the implementation of JJM and NDB Schemes while seeking the cooperation of the village chiefs and the public during the execution of the work.
An interaction was also held where all the doubts of the village chiefs were clarified by the Executive Engineer and the MLA.
The joint meeting decided to extend cooperation and support for the successful implementation of JJM and NDB Water Supply Schemes to meet the deadline set by Prime Minister Narendra Modi to provide potable drinking water to every household by the year 2024 .
The meeting also decided to work out means to take up Water Supply Schemes in those villages which are not covered by JJM or NDB schemes.
