Ban imposed on festive activities ahead of upcoming exams

Six student bodies of the State and All Manipur Students Guardian Organisation (AMSGO) have imposed a ban on all forms of festivities and celebrations at open ground or public places with effect from February 10, 2023 in view of the upcoming board examinations of Class X and XII .
In a joint press release issued by the presidents of MSF, DESAM, KSA, SUK, AIMS and another student body and secretary of AMSGO have appealed to all to support the move on the ban of festivities or celebrations such as Thabal, musical concerts, DJ, screening of films etc in the interest of the students who are preparing for the upcoming major exams.
However it has been informed that there will be no restrictions on the conduct of such activities in indoor halls/theatres.
Further they appealed to all concerned not to use loudspeakers in religious or traditional ceremonies conducted at open places.
With regards to the upcoming Yaoshang festival, the student bodies and AMSGO informed that no restrictions will be imposed on festive activities during the festival and appealed to all to wind up such activities by 10 pm and take up measures to ensure that there are no prolonged festive activities after the 5-day festival.
They also sought the support and cooperation from the public to ensure that such restrictions are strictly followed and no untoward incidents occur due to violation of the aforementioned restrictions.
Further they appealed to the Government not to issue permits for Thabal Chongba until the examinations conclude.
