Women journalists' workshop held in Shillong

Imphal, February 06 2023:
A national level workshop on the theme "Children's learning issues after COVID: Reportage and Coverage" for women journalists was organised by South Asia Women in Media (SWAM) at City Hut Family Dhaba, Shillong in Meghalaya on Monday.
Altogether, 20 women journalists from across the country including four from Manipur took part in the workshop.
Longjam Arishrona of The People's Chronicle, Chitradhani Waikhom of Ichel Express, Joyshree Usham of Impact TV and Keny Phurailatpam of Imphal Review of Arts and Politics took part in the workshop.
During the workshop, Martin Luther Christian University vice chancellor Dr Glen Kharkongor spoke on the topic "Mal-nourishment and Learning in Meghalaya and Northeast States", varsity's registrar Dr Iwamon C J Laloo on "Primary Education and Foundational Learning in Meghalaya and Northeast states", Kashmir University Media Research Centre's associate professor Dr Sye-da Afshana (via online) on "Exploring the potential of digital learning in enhancing foundational education: Challenges and opportunities" and NDTV Hyderabad executive editor Uma Sudhir on "School Education and the Media; Some core issues" .
Vice president of SAWM and Shillong Times editor Patricia Mukhim, SAWM India president Swati Bhattacharjee and SAWN India general secretary Nilova Roy also took part in the workshop.
Impact of CO VID pandemic on education sector, advantages and disadvantages of online classes during the pandemic, impact of the pandemic on school going students, advantages of the new education policy and the ASER report of 2022 were some of the issues dissected during the workshop.
Women journalists of the state also highlighted the current scenario of education system in Manipur.
