Imphal, February 06 2023:
Thangmeiband Assembly Constituency MLA Kh Joykisan has extended monetary support of Rs 1 lakh to the family of deceased VDF personnel, Ningombam Premananda.
It may be noted that Ningombam Premananda was found dead near Levanant village under Chandel district on February 3 after going missing on January 21 while on a drive to destroy poppy plantations as part of the War on Drugs campaign in Phaisi village.
The MLA handed over the sum to the family while visiting them at their residence in Thoubal Okram today.
Speaking to media persons in this regard, Kh Joykisan stated that he had expected a massive outpouring of grief and condolences upon the recovery of the body of Ningombam Premananda.

However, aside from a few organizations expressing their condolences and discontent, an atmosphere of peace and calm has settled in instead of protests and demonstrations, he said.
In this regard he raised questions against the organisations which had wholeheartedly lent their support to Chief Minister N Biren Singh's War on Drugs campaign.
He questioned their silence on the death of a "warrior of War on Drugs campaign" while questioning their support.
Kh Joykisan further questioned if the promise of a Government job to a next of kin will be enough in this case.
Stating that Ningombam Premananda's death cannot be filed under 'natural causes', he opined that the VDF personnel sacrificed his life while serving the State.
Aside from this, the MLA also pointed out the lack of support from the public on the War on Drugs campaign and called for people's cooperation to combat the growing number of drug smugglers in the State.
The MLA further said that he will continue to provide aid to security personnel who sustain injuries or worse while involved in the campaign.
Ningombam Memcha, mother of the VDF personnel, stated that if the State Government had launched intensive search operations at the earliest, her son might have been found alive.
Despite this, she expressed hope that the State Government will provide a mode of livelihood for her daughter-in law and two grandchildren.
