Awareness prog on International Peace day held

On the occasion of International Day of Peace, Noney Battalion of Assam Rifles (East) organised an awareness programme on Wednesday at T Khonom village as a part of its continuous efforts to promote peace, harmony and stability in the area.
The International Day of Peace also known as World Peace Day is observed every year on September 21.The day reminds us of the need to live peacefully with one another as human beings.
The programme was intended to convey importance of spirit of unity and spread the message of "End Racism, Build Peace", which is also this year's theme for International Peace Day by United Nations Organisation (UNO).
The event was attended by village authorities, villagers, youth organisations of T Khonom village and neighbouring village of Pholjang and school children of Thanglongbung UJB School, T Khonom.
To increase motivation of locals and support peace in area, representatives of police authorities and KSO Moltam Block also joined the programme.
Troops of Kotlen Company, also organised a painting competition for children of all age groups under the theme of International Peace Day to inculcate essence of peace and its importance in human life in young minds, through means of colours and creative imagination.
The troops also interacted with the youth and guided them to choose the right career both in private and government organisations as per their interest and educational qualification.
In order to motivate children, prizes were also distributed to those who tried and performed well in the painting competition.
The programme focused on welfare of locals and promote peace in general area concluded with the slogan End Racism, build peace' .
