Covid situation aggravates as state logs 70 new cases

Imphal, July 13 2022: The Covid-19 pandemic situation in the state is worsening with rapid increase in daily new cases.

On Wednesday, the state reported 70 new positive cases from 11 districts, out of 442 samples tested in the last 24 hours, thus, registering 15.84 per cent positivity rate The 70 fresh cases (30 male & 40 female) are residents of Imphal West (32), Imphal East (17), Thoubal (7), Churachandpur (3), Senapati (3), Bishnupur (3), Tengnoupal (1), Ukhrul (1), Noney (1) and Kangpokpi (1) districts.

Wednesday also reported 18 recoveries from home isolation whereas no death case was reported in the last 24 hours.

Number of active cases rose to 268 active cases, out of which 196 (73.13 per cent) are in home isolation.

So far, the state has recorded 368 positive cases since the beginning of the fourth wave of the pandemic.

The current month has reported 343 new positive cases.

The cumulative positivity rate for the current month rose to 10.70 per cent.

In the last 24 hours, 133 D-type and 19 B-type oxygen cylinders have been made available to different health facilities and 2966 vaccine doses administered which took the cumulative number of vaccinated population to 15,99,757, out of which 12,68,765 had received second doses and 1,21,756 had taken precautionary doses.

As per data maintained by The People's Chronicle based on IDSP and CCR reports, number of total cases in different districts are Imphal West (48932), Imphal East (30553), Thoubal (10176), Churachandpur (11065), Kangpokpi (3139), Tamenglong (3479), Bishnupur (9859), Senapati (2500), Ukhrul (3284), Kakching (6906), Chandel (2739), Noney (1163), Tengnoupal (1203), Jiribam (1111), Kamjong (1039), and Pherzawl (465).Data analysed by this daily shows that the rate of infection remains 44,348 confirmed cases per million population (based on projected population of 31,03,000 as per NCP report) against the national average of 31,029 CPM.

Test rate has improved to 5,21,397 tests per million population against the national average of 6,16,551 TPM.

Case fatality rate stands at 1.54 per cent and the recovery rate came down to 98.26 per cent.

The cumulative positivity rate rose to 8.51 per cent.
