17 new cases take active tally to 62

Imphal, July 05 2022: With the fourth wave of Covid-19 pandemic possibly knocking at the door, the state on Tuesday reported 17 new positive cases, out of 228 samples tested in the last 24 hours and registered a spike of 7.46 per cent positivity rate.

Tuesday's detection is the highest since March 8 which recorded 18 cases.

The 17 fresh cases (5 male & 12 female) are residents of Imphal West (5), imphal East (5), Thoubal (3), Chandel (3) arid Bishnupur (1) districts.

Tuesday also reported four recoveries from home isolation (2) and Shija Hospital (2) but there were no death cases reported in the last 24 hours.

Number of active cases rose to 62, out of which 54 are in home isolation.

Till date, the pandemic has claimed 2120 lives including seven CAPF personnel and infected 1,37,323 individuals including 5,014 CAPF personnel.

The virus has claimed lives of 194 vaccinated people, out of which 61 had received second doses of Covid vaccine.

There are 14 vacant beds available in JNIMS and 47 in RIMS.

So far, the state has recorded 11,535 positive cases and 118 fatalities since the beginning of the third wave of the pandemic.

The current month has reported 53 new positive cases and zero fatality.

The cumulative positivity rate for the current month is 8.24 per cent.

In the last 24 hours, 75 D-type and 4 B-type oxygen cylinders have been made available to different health facilities and 3248 vaccine doses administered taking the cu-mulative number of vaccinated population to 15,94,481, out of which 12,60,656 had received second doses and 1,13,809 precautionary doses.

As per data maintained by The People's Chronicle based on IDSP and CCR reports, number of total cases in different districts are Imphal West (48799), Imphal East (30473), Thoubal (10165), Churachandpur (11054), Kangpokpi (3137), Tamenglong (3478), Bishnupur (9845), Senapati (2493), Ukhrul (3279), Kakching (6896), Chandel (2730), Noney (1161), Tengnoupal (1201), Jiribam (1111), Kamjong (1036) and Pherzawl (465).Data analysed by this daily shows that the rate of infection remains 44,255 confirmed cases per million population (based on projected population of 31,03,000 as per NCP report) against the national average of 30,937 CPM.

Test rate has improved to 5,20,571 tests per million population against the national average of 6,14,322 TPM.

Case fatality rate stands at 1.54 per cent and the recovery rate came down to 98.41 per cent.

The cumulative positivity rate stands 8.50 per cent.
