Annual meeting of Manipuri Sahitya Parishad, Thoubal held

Thoubal, December 29 2022: Manipuri Sahitya Parishad, Thoubal District Branch organised its 20th annual meeting accompanied by the release of its yearly literary journal at Khorirol Sanglen Wangjing today.

Dignitaries present at the function include Longjam Joichandra, president, Manipuri Sahitya Parishad, Imphal as the chief guest; Yengkhom Indira, noted author and advisor of Ningol Khut Manipur as the functional president and Tongbram Babulan, president, Khorirol Sandoklup Wangjing and Dr Elangbam Priyobarta, secretary, Manipuri Sahitya Parishad, Imphal as the guests of honour.

The event was kicked off with the offering of floral tribute on the portraits of three deceased members of Manipuri Sahitya Parishad, Thoubal District Branch.

In his address, Sarat Salam, secretary, Manipuri Sahitya Parishad, Thoubal District Branch gave an account of the literary events conducted by the organisation in the past year.

Following this, chief guest Longjam Joichandra released Manipuri Sahitya Parishad, Thoubal District Branch's yearly literary journal, "Khori Eehul" .

It may be noted that Sanasam Nabadip is the editor of "Khori Eehul" .

Five books authored by Moirangthem Rajendra were also released during the function.

These are "Tentha gi Rajen" (short story), "Ei Philosopher Amani", "Tentha gi Rajen, Moirangthem Rajen" (poetry book), "Masi Eigi Wakhalni" (poetry book) and "Haide Laidi Karisu" (poetry book) .

Notably, Moirangthem Rajendra, who has been conferred with the title "Kabiraj" has penned 18 books, comprising short stories, poems and translations.

He is well-known and respected as a "satirist poet" .

As a part of the day's activities, simple gifts were also presented to elderly veteran members of Manipuri Sahitya Parishad, Thoubal District Branch and renowned authors of the State who have contributed greatly in the field of literature.
