290th Puya Meithaba remembered

International Observation Committee On Puya Meithaba (ICOP), Kangleipak organized the commemoration function of 290th Puya Meithaba which the committee has been observing for the last 41 years while Meidingu Leishemba Sanajaoba attended the function as chief guest.
Speaking at the occasion, he said that it is time for all the communities of the State to come together as one group to save the future generation of Manipur from being diluted.
Leishemba Sanajaobana further said that CAB 2016 is a serious issue for the people of Manipur and other North Eastern States adding that if the said bill becomes an act then the entire indigenous population of each NE States will become minority community in their own States.
Co-convener ICOP, Nongmai Leima said that the day was observed to build a peaceful and united Manipur on the theme "Remember, Review and Revive for Love, Peace and Integrity" .

During the function held at Khangabok, annual award "Maichou Ningshing Mana" was conferred to Takhellambam Amubi s/o late Takhellambam Tomchou, Keinou, Bishnupur district while "Chingmee-Tammee Nungshi Leepul Mana" went to Hunphun, HA Angayung Tangkhul s/o late HA Yaimee, Ukhrul district by Leishemba Sanajaoba.
The annual award carries cash prize of Rs 10,000 each along with certificate.
As part of the function, Leishemba Sanajaoba unveiled replica of Puya Meithaba events by Santidas Gosai at MMRC & Unity Park, Khangabok and hoisted seven clan flag at half-staff as a mark of sorrow.
The function was attended by convenor ICOP, Namoijam Tomba as functional president while vice-president Tangkhul Naga Wungnao Long, Kashung Tennyson; chairman MMRC & Unity Park Kh Menjor Mangang; president HERICON Longjam Ratan; president UMMWDO Anwari Noorjahan; president Manipur State Shumang Lila Council, Ima Purnimashi and chairman COHSEM L Mahendra attended the function as guests of honour.
Later, artiste of Manipur State Sumang Leela presented a play "Kangleipakta 1709 (Puya Meithaba)" to the public.
